I have turned and faced the unresolved tension, and begun a process in earnest. This process may not have an end. It is somewhere between a reflection and an exorcism.
Using spoken word to present specific memory vignettes and pondering the nature of where they sit and how they are remembered. The audience encounters the work one at a time in a dark constructed space with no ambient sound. Through headphones they listen to my speech.
In presentation, I am giving you an in – I am inviting you to join me, to bring your tension too, and perhaps to begin a process of your own.
For me, thanks to a particular set circumstances, this tension sits at the intersection of language, culture and politics. That is not where yours might sit, but I can be sure that you have one.
We may be each others salvation or simply recognise the same in someone else as is in ourselves.
